Focus on defence, hitting comes later

Before you can practice chi sau properly you need a structurally correct bong sau and tan sau on one hand and a structurally correct f00k sau on the other hand this is your defence against the other person and if their structure is weak i.e. not structurally correct you will collapse their hands easily every time. This is why a hard training student can progress to chi sai after around 12 months, leading up to this the student should focus on don chi sau which is less confusing for the brain.

Meaning a self taught will always get beat as they have not practiced the basics correctly from a certified instructor.
